Introduction to Doug Englebart

by Si Email

Its been a research day for me so far and I've started getting into some of Doug Engelbart's writing particularly his paper on Improving our Ability to Improve. If you didn't know Doug Engelbart invented the mouse as well as many other aspects of modern computing. I would definitely recommend watching his 1968 demo which gives you some idea of how far ahead of his time this guys was (or perhaps how slow we've been in catching up!).

Another very interesting series of lectures I've come across this morning is Douglas Crockford's seires on JavaScript. Even if you aren't interested in JavaScript I would recommend watching Volume One which give a very interesting history of computing!
